Bahati's Blunder: Kenyans Unleash Fury on Twitter ¶
December 15, 2019, marked a day of reckoning for Kenyan musician Bahati, as he faced the full force of public outrage on Twitter.
It all began when Bahati, a Jubilee Party supporter, attempted to rally young voters for the party. However, his efforts backfired spectacularly, with Kenyans taking to Twitter to express their displeasure.
King Kaka's recent release of the spoken word song/poem 'Wajinga Nyinyi' seems to have inspired Bahati to reevaluate his stance, but it was too little, too late. Kenyans were not about to let him off the hook so easily.
As the backlash unfolded, Bahati found himself at the receiving end of a barrage of insults and criticism. Twitter users did not hesitate to call him out for his perceived hypocrisy and lack of substance in his political statements.
Some of the most scathing comments came from users @RabbitTheKing, @claudiowangu, @OscarFigure, @Kamtu_Ka_Chai, @fahimwaf, @BikoSpeaks, @SlimToto1, who all expressed their disappointment and frustration with Bahati's actions.
It remains to be seen whether Bahati will learn from this experience and take a more nuanced approach to politics in the future.
