Published on December 15, 2019, a new poetic song by Kenyan rapper King Kaka, born Kevin Ombima, has sparked a heated debate hours after its release on Saturday.

The song, dubbed 'Wajinga Nyinyi', targets the Kenyan electorate for voting in leaders who are selfish, scandalous, and deceitful, leading to the country's economic hardship.

King Kaka, 32, boldly recites, 'Sisi ni vipofu na viziwi…na tunajua translator wetu alishadedi.2022 already si mnajua nani ni Prezzi… si mnajua nyinyi voters ni washenzi… So, unashangaa akili zenu time ya kura zinajaa shonde.'

He also expresses his support for teachers' and doctors' strikes, stating, 'Welcome to our country where politicians wana ujinga za kila aina. Economy imekuwa hard hakuna kitu ya kuteremsha chai…'

Within 10 hours of its release, the song garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube, with many Kenyans on social media hailing King Kaka for his bravery in telling the truth.

Notable figures such as activist Boniface Mwangi, deported lawyer Miguna Miguna, and Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua praised King Kaka for the song.

However, King Kaka later announced on social media that he was in the process of pulling down the song on YouTube, citing threats.

He tweeted, '#WajingaNyinyi at this rate, I think I need protection. If worse comes to worse, mkuje police station.'
