On December 14, 2019, Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit laid hands on CPL Josphat Mutavi Ndunda during his ordination as a priest at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.
Archbishop Sapit has now faulted the extension of the Building Bridges Initiative taskforce term, saying a new team should have been picked to steer the process.
Speaking during an ordination service at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, Archbishop Sapit emphasized the need for fresh minds devoid of political affiliation to work on the BBI report.
“BBI document has opened opportunities to fight corruption but it’s not conclusive,” he said, adding that the president could have listened to Kenyans and included youth who have fresh minds as they are the future.
Archbishop Sapit warned that if one side was left to steer the process, it would end up in dispute.
He also urged politicians to formulate policies that create employment for youth to stabilize the lives of Kenyans, as stipulated in the BBI.
On mudslides and floods, Archbishop Sapit said the government should be prepared for disaster as Kenyans have contributed to the degradation of the environment, worsening the effects of climate change.
He further argued that disaster management agencies should be vigilant to avert tragedy.
Archbishop Sapit also advised motorists to exercise caution during the festive season to save lives, and asked parents to be mindful of their children to prevent cases of abuse.
