On December 15, 2019, a Nigerian man was arrested for allegedly hacking into the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) system.
Abaeze Atuche, 29, allegedly entered the US using a fake American passport in 2013 and never left.
Between 2016 and 2019, Atuche is reported to have hacked into USCIS's website and granted US citizenship to himself, his family members, and friends, benefiting about 30 people.
The US government is currently in the process of deporting all individuals who obtained citizenship as a result of Atuche's alleged criminal act.
