December 12, 2019, marked a special day for South Sudanese model Aweng Chuol as she tied the knot with her fiancé Alexis in a private ceremony in New York.
Aweng, a 21-year-old law student and New York-based model, shared pictures from the wedding on social media to announce their marriage. Born in Kakuma refugee camp in Turkana, Aweng moved to Sydney, Australia at the age of 7.
On Twitter, Aweng captioned a photograph of herself and her wife, saying, 'Married my best friend today. I am. GEEKED.'
Aweng took to Twitter to share her happiness with her followers, stating, 'We got married. We had three people in the room with us. And four people at the entire ceremony. It was for us. But wanted to share my happiness with y'all.'
