Liverpool's Mohamed Salah scored a double to seal an 11-point lead at the top of the Premier League, thanks in part to Watford's wasteful finishing in a 2-0 victory at Anfield.
Watford, who remain six points adrift of safety, had the majority of chances against the European champions but failed to capitalize, with Salah scoring the decisive goals.
Salah opened the scoring with a brilliant finish from a rapid counter-attack, before flicking home a second goal a minute from time.
Watford's Nigel Pearson was taking charge of the team for the first time, and his side showed a new level of impetus, but ultimately fell short against the league leaders.
The big difference between the two teams was evident in both boxes, with Watford's profligacy allowing Liverpool to keep a first clean sheet at Anfield all season.
Salah's double sealed the win for Liverpool, who will travel to the Middle East in buoyant mood, despite a jaded display and another injury blow to Georginio Wijnaldum.
