Published on December 14, 2019, two farm workers in Baringo County have lost their lives after consuming contaminated githeri.
According to Dr. Mary Panga, the Baringo County Executive Committee Member for Health, the victims were rushed to Baringo Referral Hospital after complaining of stomach pains and vomiting.
Seventeen people in total were affected, with 15 still in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dr. Panga revealed that the case is under police investigation to determine the source of the poisoning.
Baringo County Commissioner Henry Wafula confirmed that samples from the meal have been taken to the Government Chemist for further tests.
