Two Farmworkers Die After Eating Poisonous Food in Baringo County

On December 13, 2019, two farmworkers tragically lost their lives after consuming poisonous food in Baringo County, Kenya.

According to Mary Panga, the county's health officer, the two victims died while receiving treatment at Baringo's referral hospital.

As reported by Citizen on December 14, 2019, the incident is currently under investigation by the police, who are working to determine the source of the poisonous food.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke had reported that 14 farmworkers were hospitalized after consuming githeri laced with a poisonous substance.

Some of the affected workers were left in a coma-like state, while others were hospitalized in critical condition.

Baringo County Commissioner Henry Wafula stated that samples of the food have been sent to government laboratories for further analysis.
