Francesca Schiavone, the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros in 2010, has overcome cancer after a tough battle.
On Friday, the 39-year-old former tennis champion shared her diagnosis and recovery in a video on her Instagram account, saying: "I'm still breathing".
She revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy, but has now won the fight.
Although Schiavone did not specify the type of cancer, she expressed her gratitude for being able to share her story and inspire others.
As a renowned tennis player, Schiavone retired from the sport in 2018 after winning eight career titles, including her greatest moment at the 2010 Roland Garros final.
She also achieved her career best world ranking of four in January 2011 and came close to defending her French Open title in 2011, but was defeated by China's Li Na.
