Published on December 14, 2019, Kenya's Shujaa team bounced back from their Dubai Sevens blues by qualifying for the cup quarter-finals in the Cape Town Sevens.

Shujaa started the second leg of the HSBC Sevens Series on a high note, beating Samoa 19-24 on Day One of the Cape Town Sevens.

Kenya's Vincent Onyala powered through the Australian defense from the halfway line, scoring the first try of the game, with Daniel Taabu adding the extras.

However, Australia's Joe Pincus ensured the teams went into the half-time break level after a clear sight on the try box for an easy dot down.

Alvin Otieno, a real asset for Shujaa, bagged his second try of the tournament, bulldozing through the Aussie defense to make it a five-point game.

Kenya withstood the Australian storm in the dying minutes of the game to hold on for the 12-7 victory, securing a spot in the cup quarter-finals.

Kenya will face Ireland in the final Pool D clash, which will be a dead rubber after both teams made it to the cup quarters.
