Shujaa off to winning start in Cape Town

On December 14, 2019, Kenya's national rugby sevens team Shujaa kicked off the second leg of the World Rugby Series in Cape Town with a thrilling 24-19 victory over Samoa.

Shujaa's coach Paul Feeney made strategic changes in the second half, introducing Willy Ambaka, Bush Mwale, deputy skipper Jacob Ojee, and Johnstone Olindi, which paid off as Billy Odhiambo scored a crucial try, converted by Daniel Taabu, to make it 24-07.

Samoa's substitute Tuatagaloa scored his team's second try, converting it with Perez, but missed the extras at full time, securing the win for Shujaa.

Kenya will face Australia in their second Pool D match on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 11:57 am (EAT).
