On December 12, 2019, Kenyans celebrated their 56th Jamhuri Day, and the occasion was marked in a unique way - with the projection of the Kenyan flag on the iconic Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai.

The Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper, was lit up in the colors of the Kenyan national flag - red, green, white, and black - for three minutes.

According to Arab Business, a three-minute promotional advert or message on the tower typically costs AED250,000 (approximately Ksh.6.9 million).

However, Brand Kenya, a State body responsible for promoting the country's image and reputation, clarified that the display was done for free.

Brand Kenya responded to questions about the cost by saying, 'Well that's the power of a good brand and Kenya is indeed a good brand. Chema chajiuza… Thank you.'

When asked to translate the Swahili phrase, Brand Kenya added, 'Swahili is our national language but let's translate 'Chema chajiuza…' (a good brand like KENYA sells itself) that's your answer right there.'
