West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini is under intense pressure to deliver a win against Southampton on Saturday, with his job hanging in the balance.
According to British media reports, Pellegrini was on the verge of being sacked after West Ham's 3-1 loss to London rivals Arsenal on Monday.
However, the 66-year-old Chilean manager remains defiant, stating that he came to West Ham to implement a new playing style and not just fight relegation.
"What I really need is to win the game but maybe I'm not in my job on Monday," Pellegrini said in a pre-match news conference.
West Ham are currently 16th in the Premier League table with 16 points, just a point above Southampton, who occupy 18th spot and are in the relegation zone.
With just five points from their last 10 games, Pellegrini is the odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League boss to leave, ahead of Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuettl.
