Published on December 13, 2019, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has backed his team to fight for a top-four spot this season.
United's recent victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have propelled them to fifth place in the table, with 24 points and just five points behind the Champions League places.
Although a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in October had threatened their chances of finishing in the top four, Solskjaer remained optimistic about his players' abilities.
"It's never been ridiculous (finishing in the top four). We're not talking about winning the league now but I have said all along that this group needs time," Solskjaer said after Thursday's Europa League victory over AZ Alkmaar.
He emphasized the importance of developing as a group and expressed confidence in their ability to do so, citing their right attitude.
"There are too many games in December, January, February, March, April. You cannot start looking at the result and the outcome. We need to keep doing what we're doing... I believe then that the result will come," Solskjaer added.
United face a challenging test against Everton on Sunday and will take on Watford, Newcastle United, Burnley, and Arsenal in their next fixtures.
