On December 13, 2019, Google rolled out Chrome version 79, a significant update that includes enhanced password protection features to safeguard users against cyber threats.

The new browser extension will alert users when their passwords have been leaked, ensuring a safer online experience.

According to Cybersecurity Ventures' 2019 market report, the worldwide spending on cybersecurity in 2018 approximated $114 billion, a 12.4% increase from 2017.

Fortune 500 corporations, particularly financial institutions, have been investing heavily in cybersecurity, with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. allocating $600 million annually for cybersecurity measures, up from $500 million in 2016.

With Chrome 79, users can now control password protection settings in the sync settings and receive warnings when their passwords are compromised.

Google has also improved its phishing protection with real-time capabilities, generating warnings for 30% more cases of phishing.

Additionally, Chrome 79 features a better visual indicator for multiple profiles, ensuring users can easily identify the correct password and profile being used.
