Ronaldinho Backtracks on Messi: 'He's the Best of His Time'

Former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho has sensationally retracted his earlier statements on Lionel Messi, saying the Argentine is not necessarily the best player ever.

According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Ronaldinho, who played alongside Messi in Barcelona, toned down his praise for the Argentine.

While acknowledging Messi's greatness, Ronaldinho believes that there were other skilled players before his time who deserve recognition, including Diego Maradona and Pele.

Notably, Ronaldinho provided Messi with his first goal for Barcelona back in 2004.

However, Ronaldinho's comments come after Messi recently won his sixth Ballon d'Or award, becoming the player with the most Ballon d'Or wins in history.

"I don't like comparisons because it's hard to identify who is the best in history, there's Diego Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo, I can't say that Messi is the best ever, he is the best in his time," Ronaldinho said.
