On Friday, December 13, 2019, Kenya's Junior Starlets faced off against Tanzania in the U17 Cecafa Challenge Cup at the Njeru Technical Centre in Jinja. The match ended in a 3-1 defeat for Kenya, with Tanzania emerging victorious.

Thebea Aidano Munga opened the scoring for Tanzania in the 20th minute, followed by Joyce Meshak in the 54th minute and Aisha Hamis Masaka in the 70th minute. Fassila Adhiambo scored Kenya's consolation goal in the 55th minute.

Junior Starlets coach Jackeline Juma attributed the loss to the team's lack of training time, stating, "My players struggled today because we didn't have enough time to train but we take this as a motivation to finish strongly." She also praised the team's defense, saying, "I'm glad they stuck to the game plan which was maintaining a strong defence even though it was challenged by Tanzania who are a good side as well. We will use the lessons learnt in the next match."
