Uhuru's Frustrated Presidency: A Repeat of History? ¶
As President Uhuru Kenyatta prepares to retire in 2022, many Kenyans are left wondering what the future holds for the country. In a recent opinion piece, a writer suggests that Uhuru's leadership style has taken the country back to the days of his father's dictatorship.
According to the writer, Uhuru's father, Jomo Kenyatta, was a dictator who didn't want competition and humiliated his deputy president, Daniel arap Moi, before his death. The writer believes that history is repeating itself, with Uhuru humiliating his Deputy President, William Ruto, and predicting that Ruto will rise to power and Uhuru will retire unwanted.
The writer also accuses Uhuru of making the economy unfavorable to poor Kenyans, leading to widespread discontent. They warn that a revolution is coming, which will swallow the Kenyattas and Odinga's, and that Kenyans are tired of threats from the president.
Furthermore, the writer suggests that the Moi family has taken a low profile, sensing the revolution coming, and that Uhuru is being advised by the wrong people, including 2017 political losers who are seeking revenge. They also claim that the president's actions are misdirected, as he is fighting his own people in government, forgetting that he wants to return to power in 2022 through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The writer concludes that the repeat of 2007 might happen, leading to the end of the Kenyatta dynasty, and that a revolution is coming, starting from central Kenya, the president's backyard. They also suggest that Raila Odinga has seen a revolution coming but is busy in government, reengineering it without realizing it.
Ultimately, the writer warns Uhuru to change his advisory team and stop fighting his elected leaders, as they also have the masses they control who are not happy with his actions.
