On December 13, 2019, a landslide at Chugor in Marakwet East completely blocked the Kitale highway, prompting the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to advise motorists to use alternative routes.

According to KeNHA, the landslide occurred on the Kitale - Kachibora - Kapchero - Makutano - Kapyego - Chesoi - Chesongoch - Tot (B15) road at Chesoi area.

KeNHA Corporate Communication Assistant Director Charles Njogu stated that traffic flow at the section has been totally disrupted.

"Motorists are requested to approach the section with caution and follow instructions given by the police and team on the ground," Njogu advised.

As an alternative route, motorists are advised to use the Biretwo - Tot road.

KeNHA has mobilized a contractor to clear the road and allow passage of traffic.
