Esther Chebet, popularly known as Matilda from Real Househelps of Kawangware, has been a talented actress in the Kenyan entertainment industry. Born in 1995, Chebet started acting at a tender age and was discovered by a music and drama teacher from KMC in 2010 when she was in form three.
She acted in the local dramedy Real Househelps of Kawangware (RHK) for three years before quitting in 2017. Chebet then joined Sue na Johnie, which airs on Maisha Magic, but quit in 2018.
After leaving the acting industry, Chebet ventured into comedy and has been posting funny clips on her various social media accounts. She has gained a significant following and is known for her Kalenjin accent.
During an interview, Chebet shared her journey in the acting industry, saying, 'I used to work in a cybercafe and have always been an online person. I find it easy interacting online.'
Despite facing rejection at several auditions, Chebet persevered and eventually landed roles in Real Househelps of Kawangware and Sue na Johnie. She believes that hard work and perseverance are essential in the industry.
Chebet also spoke about being trolled on social media, referring to her critics as 'confused fans.' She has been bullied and body-shamed, but chooses to respond to trolls' comments and block them afterward.
