US President Donald Trump has sparked outrage after mocking 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg, who was named Time's Person of the Year in 2019.

Thunberg, who has been a vocal advocate for climate action, has inspired protests around the world with her message.

Trump, known for his Twitter rants against media organizations and political leaders, has repeatedly denied the existence of climate change.

On Thursday, he responded to a tweet from actress Roma Downey congratulating Thunberg by saying: 'So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!'

Thunberg, however, took the opportunity to change her Twitter bio to reflect Trump's comments, saying: 'A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.'

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci criticized Trump, saying: 'What kind of president bullies a teenager? @realDonaldTrump, you could learn a few things from Greta on what it means to be a leader.'

Thunberg has been open about her Asperger's diagnosis, which she says has helped her focus on her activism.

According to the National Autistic Society, people with Asperger's are of average or above average intelligence, but may struggle with social communication and interaction.
