Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed his desire to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window, citing the need for additional players to rotate through a long season.
Speaking after a comfortable 4-0 win against AZ Alkmaar on December 12, 2019, Solskjaer acknowledged that the current young players are talented but emphasized the importance of having a deeper squad.
"We are looking to strengthen in many positions. If you look at our squad compared to the others, we are getting there but we still need two or three players to have enough numbers to rotate through a long season," Solskjaer said.
Despite having a talented young player in Mason Greenwood, Solskjaer expressed his willingness to use him frequently on the big stage, regardless of new signings.
"He played against Tottenham and was class. I'm not afraid of playing him in the Premier League," Solskjaer added.
Greenwood's impressive performance, scoring twice in the match, was a highlight of the game, which secured Group L victory for Manchester United.
