The Queen of Networking: Sarah Karingi's Journey to Success ¶
Published on December 13, 2019
Meet Sarah Karingi, the founder of Global Networks Investments and author of three motivational books. She has been dubbed the 'queen of networking' due to her remarkable ability to connect people and help them achieve their goals.
For Sarah, networking is not just about making connections, but also about leaving a lasting impact on people's lives. 'A queen exudes confidence and generosity, and leaves a mark in people's lives,' she says.
But Sarah's journey to becoming the 'queen of networking' was not without its challenges. In 2010, her business suffered a huge blow when her workshop was razed down by an arsonist, leaving her with millions in losses. She was also mourning the loss of her husband at the time.
However, it was during this difficult period that Sarah discovered the importance of networking. She attended a business welfare group meeting where she learned that clients don't buy products unless they know that they exist and where to find them. This revelation sparked a resolve in Sarah to strengthen her networks.
Fast forward six years, and Sarah had founded Global Networks Investments, where she offers young people tips on how to behave when meeting new people, the non-verbal cues they should use or avoid, and the concept of social media marketing.
But Sarah's advice to her younger self would be to be a good listener and a fast learner. 'At a time when technology is changing rapidly, she should treasure the advice of older individuals,' she says.
Today, Sarah is focused on being free, healthy, and spending quality time with friends and meeting new people. She has received accolades such as the Africa Business Excellence Awards, the Africa Business Networker Award, and the ABTEI Entrepreneurship Award.
As for her favorite book, Sarah recommends 'Business Networking' by Heather Townsend, which clearly defines what networking is and how important it is in our individual journeys to success.
