On December 13, 2019, Kenya made a significant commitment to the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) by pledging KSh50 million to the group's new endowment fund.
The fund, aimed at promoting the sustainability of the group's activities, is a crucial step towards ensuring the long-term viability of the ACP.
Speaking at the ACP summit in Nairobi, President Uhuru Kenyatta emphasized the importance of this contribution, stating that it would go a long way in transforming the region.
Other countries, including Papua New Guinea and Ghana, have also pledged funds to the endowment fund, which will be managed by a board drawn from member states.
At the same event, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley called on member states to shift their focus from solely increasing the gross domestic product to ensuring that ordinary citizens feel the impact of economic growth.
