On Thursday, a tragic incident occurred in a marriage that had been plagued by frequent domestic disputes. Mercy Wanjiru, a 21-year-old woman, allegedly stabbed her husband, Kevin Kuria, to death.
According to Nyumba Kumi Chairperson Daniel Thiong'o, Wanjiru had packed her belongings and was trying to leave the marriage when Kuria blocked her. Thiong'o said, “She had her suitcase already packed but the man would not allow her to leave.”
When Thiong'o intervened, he found Kuria lying helpless on the floor with blood oozing from his chest. Wanjiru had been making phone calls to neighbors and friends to help her take her husband to the hospital, claiming she was defending herself after he tried to stab her.
Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu confirmed that the man's body was moved to Nakuru Level Five hospital mortuary, while the suspect is being held at Nakuru Central Police Station. Matu said, “Investigations are ongoing, the suspect will be presented in court on Friday.”
