Andrew Kibe's Celebrity Auction for Kids' Toilets in Lang'ata Gains Momentum

On December 11, 2019, Kiss FM radio presenter Andrew Kibe was set to bring Kenyan celebrities together at an auction to help raise funds for better toilets in Nairobi schools. However, due to overwhelming public interest, he has since had to postpone the action by a week.

According to Kibe, the idea of the auction came about two years ago after he visited his son's school at Lang'ata West Primary and found the toilets in bad condition. He decided to take action and has since brought together a host of celebrities to contribute to the cause, including Kamene Goro, J Blessing, Churchill, Maina Kageni, comedians Jalang'o and Dr Ofweneke, Governor Hassan Joho, Njugush, Collins Injera, Pascal Tokodi, and others.

On Tuesday, Kibe expressed his gratitude to the public for their interest in the auction, saying, “Due to super public interest, we have postponed the celebrity auction by a week to give everyone who wants to contribute a chance to. Kumbe people give a shit…who would have thought huh!!! Thanks for all who have come thru thus far and you better believe it we are doing bigger and better.”

The auction, which will now take place a week later, will feature items donated by the celebrities, with all proceeds going towards improving the toilets in Lang'ata schools. Kibe's goal is to provide dignity to the children by giving them access to clean and well-maintained toilets.
