On December 6, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was arrested in Voi following a warrant issued by Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji. The governor is facing several counts of corruption, misuse of office, and money laundering.

According to sources, Sonko was accompanied by University of Nairobi student leader Anne Mvurya, who was clad in a hoodie and a cap. Mvurya looked nervous and pregnant, sparking speculation about her relationship with the governor.

As reported by The Nairobian, Mvurya was held at the Voi Police Station before being airlifted to Nairobi in a police helicopter. She allegedly 'escaped' from Wilson airport without attracting attention, while Sonko was whisked away in a waiting police car.

Mvurya refused to comment on the allegations, but sources close to the governor confirmed that the two are dating. Sonko may have bankrolled Mvurya's campaigns early this year, and she has been spotted in his private office on several occasions.

It is worth noting that Mvurya has been living a luxurious lifestyle, driving a 4-wheeler and enjoying a high level of comfort. The controversy surrounding Sonko's arrest and Mvurya's involvement has sparked widespread debate and speculation.
