On December 13, 2019, a Mercedes Benz assigned to the Judiciary was involved in a road accident along the Kericho-Kisumu highway, resulting in the death of a Boda-Boda rider.

The vehicle, which was passing through Kericho from Kisumu, was later torched at Ngecherorok area. Fortunately, the Judge and driver escaped with minor injuries.

Speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebrations in Belgut Constituency, Kericho County Commissioner Moses Mbaruku warned that security agencies will not rest until the culprits are brought to justice.

"We will not be in charge of a county where people operate with impunity. The incident where a government vehicle was set ablaze will not die just like that. We have to get you," Mbaruku vowed.
