On December 12, 2019, the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building in Dubai, was illuminated in the colors of Kenya's national flag, commemorating the country's independence in 1963.

According to MullenLowe MENA, the marketing agency responsible for promoting the building, a single three-minute display on the top floor LED screen costs a staggering $68,073 (approximately Ksh. 7 million).

Prices vary depending on the time of display and whether it's a weekday or weekend, with the cost increasing to $95,285 (approximately Ksh. 10 million) for a promotion displayed between 8 and 10 p.m. on weekends.

However, it was later confirmed that neither Kenya nor any other countries pay for the display, as it is part of the Burj Khalifa management's gesture to 'all nations around the globe.'
