Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has expressed confidence that his team can beat Liverpool in the next round of the Champions League.

Speaking after the completion of the group stage games on December 11, Zidane stated that his team is ready to tackle any opponents in the knock out stages.

Real Madrid finished second in Group A behind Paris-Saint-Germain, but Zidane is fairly confident that his team can get one over Jurgen Klopp if they meet Liverpool in the round of 16.

"If we play Liverpool, we will eliminate them," Zidane explained as quoted by Goal.

Real Madrid and Liverpool have a history of clashing in the Champions League, with the two teams meeting in the final in 2018. Real Madrid won the match 3-1, but Liverpool came back strong last season and got to the final again where they beat Premier League rivals Tottenham.

With all four English sides having proceeded to the knockout rounds, the likelihood of Liverpool meeting Real Madrid in the round of 16 is high.
