Head coach Suleiman 'Morocco' Hemed of Zanzibar has emphasized the importance of their upcoming CECFA Senior Challenge Group B clash against Kenya, describing it as a must-win situation to book a semi-final ticket.
The two sides have a history, having locked horns in the 2017 edition final, with Kenya emerging victorious on post-match penalties at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.
However, Zanzibar's path to the semis has become even more complicated following their 1-0 loss to rivals Tanzania on Tuesday, leaving them with a daunting task ahead.
With the champions Harambee Stars hurdle lying in wait, Zanzibar will need to give it their all to try and qualify, as they face a tough challenge from the other three teams in Group B who mathematically have a chance of sealing a last four berth.
According to Harambee Stars assistant coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno, there will be no resting on their laurels when they take on Zanzibar, despite their early qualification.
They aim to finish top in their group so that they meet the second team that qualifies from Group A, and will seek to maintain excellence against Zanzibar, who are a strong side.
Meanwhile, Sudan and Tanzania are also firmly in the scramble for the remaining single ticket from the group, further complicating Zanzibar's plans.
The teams will resume action on Friday at the KCCA Lugogo Stadium, Kampala, after resting on Thursday.
