Former KPC MD Joe Sang In The Dock ¶
December 12, 2019
Former Kenya Pipeline Company Managing Director Joe Sang and former Company Secretary Gloria Khafafa were yesterday brought to court for their ongoing case over the loss of funds in the Kisumu oil jetty project.
The oil jetty, valued at Sh1.9 billion, was meant to facilitate the delivery of oil to Uganda and Tanzania. However, the company allegedly sold old materials procured in 2001 to the contractor and claimed to have bought new ones.
Mr. Sang and Ms. Khafafa face charges of abuse of office and failure to comply with procedures relating to the management of public funds. They were previously detained in police cells in December 2018 before appearing before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti at Milimani in Nairobi.
Mr. Sang was forced out of the company over the loss of jet fuel, among other accusations.
