December 12, 2019, marked a significant day in the ongoing saga surrounding Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. A close confidant of the Governor, Kalembe Ndile, publicly expressed his suspicions regarding the motives behind the charges facing Sonko.

According to Ndile, President Uhuru Kenyatta had always preferred Peter Kenneth to be the Nairobi Governor and was allegedly targeting Sonko to achieve this goal. Ndile further claimed that the case against Sonko was politically motivated, citing the extensive resources used to arrest the Governor, including the deployment of a police helicopter.

Ndile also blamed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) for some of the troubles facing Sonko. He stated, “We are very suspicious of the handshake between Uhuru and Raila. I have read the BBI and I have concluded that they are planning to use it to take over the management of Nairobi county.”

Furthermore, Ndile accused the Kenyatta and Odinga families of being the root cause of the country's problems. He said, “I want to remind Kenyans that Uhuru’s preferred candidate was Peter Kenneth. The arrest of Sonko has reminded us many things, even Uhuru, he maybe clean but he is sitting on wealth which his father grabbed from Kenyans. The biggest problem with this country starts with the Kenyatta and Odinga families, without them in our politics, there will no fights. Let the BBI be taken to those two families the rest of us Kenyans are okay.”
