On December 11, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Kapkiamo village, Baringo County, when a 55-year-old Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier, Kimosop Chepkwony, took his own life in the house of his wife's alleged lover.
According to reports, Chepkwony had been suspicious of his 40-year-old wife's infidelity with a married neighbor, also a retired KDF soldier, since 1997.
Speaking to the media, Chepkwony's brother, Kiptui Cherurich, revealed that the deceased had been acting strangely in the days leading up to his death, including buying a new rope and cigarettes at a local trading centre.
"He also bought several cigarettes and left in frustration. We did not know where he went to later on," Cherurich said as quoted.
Police officers led by Baringo County Police Commandant, Robinson Ndiwa, have launched investigations into the incident, which has evoked mixed reactions among residents.
The deceased family suspects foul play, citing that Chepkwony's feet were found touching the ground, which they believe is unusual if he had indeed hanged himself.
