President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a strong message to senators who abuse their office to defend corrupt leaders in court.

Speaking at the Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Nyayo National Stadium on December 12, 2019, Uhuru emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and undermine the rule of law.

"You cannot be a teacher with one foot in the classroom and the other in the courts," Uhuru said, addressing the issue of dual roles held by some leaders.

He called on the Attorney General to draft a law that would prevent leaders from holding dual roles, saying it was essential to maintain the integrity of the judiciary.

Uhuru's statement comes after senators Kipchumba Murkomen and Mutula Kilonzo Junior represented Governor Sonko in court, defending him against corruption charges.
