Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has denied claims of an alliance with Deputy President William Ruto, sparking a heated debate among Kenyans.

On December 11, 2019, Kalonzo took to Twitter to dismiss the speculations, calling them 'malicious' and a desperate attempt to drive a wedge between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, the Tanga Tanga team, which is allied to Ruto, has fired back at Kalonzo, questioning why working with Ruto is considered malicious while working with Uhuru is not.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika posed the question, 'How can working with the deputy president be construed as malicious and driving a wedge between you and the president? Can someone explain this to me like I'm five? Thought we were building bridges?'

Other Kenyans have also weighed in on the debate, with some advising Kalonzo to keep quiet and not worsen the situation.

The controversy started after Kalonzo and Ruto were spotted together at the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States leadership forum held in Nairobi on December 10, 2019.
