December 12, 2019, marked a significant day for Tanzanian rapper Rosa Ree as she finally received a conditional reprieve from a six-month ban imposed by the Board of Film Censors of Tanzania (BASATA) for violating music content regulations.
The ban was lifted after Rosa Ree successfully appealed the decision in November, with BASATA rescinding their earlier decision and allowing her to continue with her music career, subject to certain conditions.
According to a letter addressed to Rosa Ree, BASATA affirmed that her appeal had been received and that the following conditions would have to be adhered to:
- She was allowed to continue with her artistic activities, and the six-month ban was lifted.
- She was required to pay a fine of Tsh 2 million within one month from December 6, 2019.
Sharing the news on her Instagram page, Rosa Ree expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hon. Harrison Mwakyembe, and the BASATA board for allowing her to continue with her music career.
However, her boyfriend, Timmy T Dat, has remained silent on the matter, leaving fans hoping that he will soon express his support for her on social media.
