Business tycoon John Kinuthia Makumi, also known as Mr. Money, has left a lasting legacy in Kenya after passing away on December 5, 2019, at the age of 85.
According to The Standard, Makumi died due to a heart attack and will be laid to rest on December 13, 2019, at his home in Rioki village.
Makumi was a well-known businessman in Kenya, owning several properties and businesses, including the Lavington Mall, a plot in Wangige, a 200-acre farm in Loitoktok, and a new development in Wangige.
He was married to two women, Waringa and Irene Nyakio, and was remembered by his family as a hardworking and ambitious individual who always strived to succeed.
"He was a diligent person, he would decide to do something and make sure he succeeded, he didn't like traveling by plane and maybe that's why he never had a desire to buy one, but he had the ability to own one," one of his children said.
At the time of his death, Makumi was one of the wealthiest businessmen in Kenya, owning properties worth millions of shillings in Kiambu and Nairobi counties.
