ICJ Names Justice Isaac Lenaola Jurist Of The Year

On December 12, 2019, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ Kenya) named Supreme Court Judge Isaac Lenaola Jurist of the Year.

At 52 years old, Justice Lenaola received the award for consistently, fearlessly, and impartially espousing values and ideals that have immensely contributed to the promotion and protection of human rights, the rule of law, justice, and democracy in Kenya and the Africa region.

During the award ceremony, Justice Lenaola emphasized the need for Kenyans to take individual responsibility in the fight against corruption, stating, "It's time we took the fight against graft seriously and we must give Judiciary tools to fight it as a country."

Justice Lenaola thanked his colleagues and his wife of 21 years for their support.

He follows in the footsteps of last year's award winner, High Court Judge George Odunga.
