On Thursday, December 12, 2019, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena announced that President Uhuru Kenyatta had extended the term of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce.
The team, led by Wajir Senator Mohamed Yusuf Haji, will now be tasked with steering the next phase of BBI, which involves expanding and guiding public participation.
President Kenyatta, together with ODM leader Raila Odinga, met with members of the BBI taskforce on Wednesday evening to discuss the next steps.
According to Ms Dena, the team will also be tasked with structuring recommendations by Kenyans into implementable action plans.
The BBI report was officially launched at the Bomas of Kenya on November 27, 2019, where the taskforce explained it to over 4,700 delegates from all 47 counties.
