As the cost of living in Kenya continues to rise, many are seeking affordable and safe places to live in Nairobi. According to various sources, the following estates stand out as some of the most affordable options in the city.

1. Roysambu

Located near the Thika Superhighway, Roysambu is a popular choice for those looking for affordable housing. The area is home to a diverse community, including Kenyans, Nigerians, Rwandese, and Congolese. One-bedroom houses in Roysambu can be rented for between KSh 15,000 and KSh 20,000 per month, while bedsitters cost between KSh 8,000 and KSh 12,000.

2. Kikuyu

As one of the fastest-growing areas in the region, Kikuyu is a preferred choice for many Kenyans due to its affordability. The area is located on the bypass, making it easily accessible to the city center. A bedsitter in Kikuyu can be rented for an average of KSh 7,000 per month, while a one-bedroom house costs between KSh 13,000 and KSh 16,000 per month.

3. Ruaka

Located North West of Nairobi, Ruaka is an upcoming area that offers affordable housing options. The presence of Two Rivers Mall has driven up rental prices in the area, but it remains a popular choice for those looking for affordable housing. Bedsitters in Ruaka can be rented for an average of between KSh 7,000 and KSh 10,000 per month, while one-bedroom houses cost between KSh 15,000 and KSh 20,000 per month.

4. Rongai

Located far from Nairobi town, Rongai is a good option for those looking for a more peaceful living environment. The area is home to the Maasai Mall, which provides residents with access to shopping facilities without having to venture into the city center.
