5 Killed, 62 Injured in Modern Coast Bus Collision Along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway

On the night of December 12, 2019, a devastating collision between two Modern Coast buses claimed the lives of five people and left 62 others injured along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

The accident occurred at around 2:40 am in Kiongwani, near a notorious black-spot that has seen over 10 road accidents in the past three weeks.

According to Makueni County Police Commander Joseph ole Napeiyan, one of the buses was heading from Malaba town while the other was heading towards Nairobi when the accident occurred.

Those injured were rushed to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
