On December 12, 2019, the Ministry of Trade announced that the Danish Brewing Company would be investing $45 million in a factory in Naivasha, Kenya. The investment is expected to bring in other investors and increase competition in the beer market.

The Danish Brewing Company will produce Tuborg, Carlsberg, Holsten, and Kronenbourg beers, as well as Somersby Cider at the factory. The company has recently started aggressively marketing its products in Kenya and production locally is expected to increase competition in the beer market.

According to Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, the investment will bring in 12-15 million cases of beer per year and directly employ 350 Kenyans. The company will also produce beverages using sorghum sourced locally from their recently launched farmers outreach programme, where they will contract 17,000 farmers.

The extension of the Standard Gauge Railway has made access to the factory easy, and the investment is expected to pull in other investors to the Industrial Park Naivasha.
