Published on December 11, 2019, the government has announced plans to re-advertise the position of Auditor General following the failure to select a suitable candidate in the first round.
The selection committee, tasked with choosing a candidate from the 17 shortlisted applicants, has failed to submit a candidate. The applicants include 10 from the Auditor General's office, including Deputy Auditor General William Agunda, and 7 others.
The delay in appointing the Auditor General is expected to further delay the announcement of financial reports by state corporations. Kenya Power and KenGen have already notified the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) about the extended date for the release of their financial reports.
