Kenya's Jamhuri Day celebrations on Thursday will see Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport closed for an hour, from 11am to 12pm, affecting flights.
According to Flight 540, the closure is necessary to accommodate the celebrations, which will be held at Nyayo Stadium to commemorate 56 years of Kenya's independence.
Passengers who will be affected by the closure will be advised accordingly, with Flight 540 promising to contact them on the way forward.
This is not the first time JKIA has been closed for Jamhuri Day celebrations. In 2016, the airport was closed for an hour to allow the military to perform drills, while in 2017, it was temporarily shut down, causing delayed flights.
