On December 11, 2019, WhatsApp introduced a significant update for Android users, enhancing the app's calling feature.

The update brings a call waiting alert, similar to regular call waiting, allowing users to manage incoming calls while on a call.

WhatsApp's calling feature was first introduced almost four years ago, and since then, the app has improved the section with features like group voice calling and the ability to switch to video during a call.

However, the app previously lacked a call waiting functionality, resulting in users receiving missed call alerts after the call ended, while the caller received an engage tone or full ring with no response.

The latest update addresses this issue, enabling receivers to receive an alert that someone is calling during the call and giving them the option to end the current call and accept the incoming call or reject it.

Additionally, the update includes new features such as settings to decide who can add you to a WhatsApp group and the use of fingerprint to unlock messages.

WhatsApp has also rolled out a beta update with three new options for dark mode, including a light theme, dark theme, and a battery saver option that prolongs phone battery life.

The update also includes a self-destructing message feature, which automatically deletes messages after a set period of time, making it seem like the message never existed.
