George Mng’ong’o, a renowned rugby player and founder of Mwamba Rugby Football Club, passed away on December 9, 2019, due to a cardiac arrest, a postmortem report has revealed.
According to a family member, Mng’ong’o had gone missing for about 10 days before his body was discovered in his house in South B Riverside estate in Nairobi on Sunday.
His brother, Samuel Goba, accompanied by police, found the house locked, and they were forced to open the door to his bedroom where his lifeless body was found.
Mng’ong’o was one of the founder members of Mwamba RFC, a top-flight rugby club in Kenya, and featured as a scrum-half for the Kenya Cup side.
His former club, Mwamba RFC, mourned him in a Facebook post, saying, 'We regret to announce the passing of founder Mwamba Scrum Half, George Mng’ong’o.'
Burial arrangements are underway at his home in Mazeras, Mombasa County, with the body set to leave Nairobi on December 20 for a burial ceremony on December 21.
