On December 11, 2019, a police officer was controlling traffic at the City Stadium roundabout along Jogoo Road when he was badly injured by a stone-throwing motorcyclist.

The officer, Mr. Nimrod Munyoro, stopped the rider, who was on a motorbike with registration number KMEM 733G, due to suspicions that the vehicle was not roadworthy.

Mr. Munyoro's statement, filed at the Makongeni Police Station, revealed that the motorbike lacked insurance, the rider had no driving license, and was not wearing a helmet or reflector jacket.

After the rider abandoned the motorbike and fled, he returned a few minutes later, armed with a stone, and pelted it at the officer, inflicting an injury on his right ear.

The officer was later rushed to Debomart Health Centre in Bahati, where he was treated and discharged.

Police launched a manhunt for the suspect and detained the motorbike at the Makongeni Police Station.
