Uganda's festive season officially kicked off on the last Friday of November, with Kampala's biggest supermarket being the epicenter of the celebrations.
As the clock struck midnight, shoppers flocked to the supermarket, eager to take advantage of the Black Friday deals. Beer and TV screens were the most sought-after items, with prices slashed by half.
Black Friday, which has been gaining popularity in Uganda over the past few years, has finally taken root in the country. The concept, popularized by online digital shops, has seen more businesses join in, offering discounts and promotions to customers.
However, the excitement was marred by reports of pickpocketing and chaos, with some shoppers getting injured in the stampede. An elderly woman was rushed to hospital after she fainted when her money was stolen.
Despite the challenges, the event was a huge success, with many shoppers taking advantage of the deals. One petrol dealership even joined in, offering petrol at half the usual price, causing a stampede on a major by-pass in town.
As the day came to a close, shoppers were left with a sense of excitement and anticipation for next year's Black Friday celebrations.
