December 11, 2019, marked a special day for Kathy Ouma and her family in Middletown, Delaware. It was a day that would bring joy to an unsuspecting Amazon driver, Karim Reed III, who had been working for just three months.
As part of their five-year Christmas tradition, Kathy and her family leave out snacks for delivery drivers who bring packages to their home. The snacks include bottled water, soft drinks, Oreos, and crackers, accompanied by a heartfelt message: “UPS, USPS, AMAZON, FEDEX – Please take some goodies to enjoy on your route. Thanks for making holiday shopping easy.”
On this particular day, Karim Reed III was the lucky recipient of their kindness. When he approached the door, he was shocked and elated by the gesture. “This is sweet. This is so nice,” he exclaimed, as captured on Kathy's security camera.
The video shows Karim dancing with joy, doing a signature dance that he has been doing since he was 7 years old. The video was later posted on Kathy's Facebook page, where it gained 17 million views and was shared over 12,000 times.
When CNN tracked down Karim, he revealed that he had been delivering packages on an empty stomach that day, having forgotten to carry his lunch. The snacks left by Kathy and her family had held him over for the rest of the day.
When Kathy was told about Karim's situation, she responded with kindness, saying: “If I had known, I’d have left him lunch too.”
